Jesus promised to born again believers, is the ‘gift of the Holy Spirit. “… he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. Gen.24:11 The reference to water is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in John 7:38- He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Can we therefore be born again, and not have the presence of the Holy Spirit within us? Yes, it is one thing to be born again; it is another to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Christian life is not complete without the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we remain fearful, powerless men/women. Christians must strive not to adopt the spirit God says, He has not created us with. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we are transformed from a life of fear, and turned into bold and powerful men/women. The apostles preached boldly, only after the day of Pentecost, and 3000 became born again. The Holy Spirit is the comforter, and teaches us all truth. The Holy spirit reveals the Word of God in our heart. You cannot live a successful Christian life without Him.
“… And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet, But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained…” Peter 5:1-11 This they have done, despite being under the Spirit of grace. John 3:5. Their punishment for lying, Ananias and Saphira both lost their lives. In the case of Moses, for dishonoring God before the people, God told Moses, you will see the Promised Land, but you will not enter into it. – Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5
To be born again of the water and of the Spirit, qualifies you to see the Kingdom of God, but for you to enter into it, you must have the Holy Spirit as your companion. When we give gratitude to God for the gift, and sacrifice of Christ for us, He opens up our imagination. When we become ungrateful for the gift Christ gave to the world, we become spiritually blind, and lost our ability to see vision. The opposite of darkness is light, and Christ is the light of the world. Thanksgiving keep God in a reachable closeness, and the presence of the Holy Spirit is made available to you. May our living, bring us closer to God.
